Dana Tanamachi, Chalk Type

In June 2008, Dana moved to New York City and began working at SpotCo designing posters for Broadway shows. Currently, she works at Louise Fili Ltd, a NYC-based studio specializing in logo, package, restaurant, and book design.
After hours, Dana moonlights as a custom chalk letterer, creating large-scale chalk installations in New York City.  She also applies her chalk lettering to a wide variety of uses for publications, packaging, and apparel.

Bill Bernbach hits a ton

It would have been Bill Bernbach’s 100th birthday on August 13. To mark the date, DDB has put together a showcase of work by the legendary adman.

Bernbach is regularly hailed as one of the original ‘mad men’: an expression that was barely remembered by the wider populace before the hit television show but is now the go-to phrase for describing any significant ad figure of 1950s or 60s. Bernbach’s talent towered over most of that time, and he is widely acknowledged for leading the creative revolution in advertising. He is also credited for introducing the idea of the creative team structure, still dominant in most agencies today, where copywriters and art directors work together in two-person teams.

Save the Bees!

Magners, the cider brand, has launched an iPhone and Android app as part of its "bee aid" campaign to help save urban bees, which are vital in the cider-making process.

The free Bee Beard app, created by Glue Isobar, is based on the latest Magners TV ad that launched in April, featuring Eamon, the Clonmel beekeeper.
Users can overlay a virtual beard of bees on a picture of themselves in six different styles. The app also gives users the chance to win a case of Magners in a weekly draw that runs until 2 October.
For every download of the app, Magners will make a donation to the British Beekeepers Association and the Federation of Irish Beekeepers, which will save 50 honey bees.
