Wimbledon isn't it, so what better for gillette to do then a super sweet art attack esque Federer viral.
I've blogged about it now, just as hundreds of thousands have. Viral still works but what is interesting is the paid advertising that Gillette have done to spread the word of this viral. Viral marketing is a machine and channel, just as any other and common place in a digital marketing mix...
So even though he's been knocked out, the federer brand is still playing.

You don't have to be a great photographer to take good photos.
You no longer need to know the A-Z of photography to create stunning photographs. Panasonic created this amusing tongue in cheek advertisement for it’s cameras.

Clever Little Shopper
Hot on the heels of Clever Little Bag comes Clever Little Shopper, our new carrier bag. At first glance it looks the same but it's made from a new material—100% cornstarch. That means it's 100% biodegradable so it will completely decompose within a three month period. Not only will this save 192 tons of plastic and 293 tons of paper every year but it will mean our bags won't live in a landfill for the next 100 years.

life in a day
Life In A Day is a historic global experiment to create the world's largest user-generated feature film: a documentary, shot in a single day, by you. On July 24, you have 24 hours to capture a glimpse of your life on camera. The most compelling and distinctive footage will be edited into an experimental documentary film, executive produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald.
Some words of wisdom from Ridly Scott.

psssh. that's not a rebrand...
The Direct Marketing Association - as described by our friends at wikipedia as:
- The Direct Marketing Association is a national trade organization that seek to advance all forms of direct marketing.
So you'd think if they were going to re-brand, it would be cutting edge, sheek and above all innovatively contemporary.
I'm not going to hold back - I simply don't think it achieves the above.
It will be rolled out from this:
To this:
Thoughts?
Let's see what happens when the full re-brand it rolled out towards the end of the month...

the wonders of the west
Has this post got anything to to do with the service we provide? nope. Has it got anything to do with design? nope. Marketing? nope.
This is just plain awesome. We've got chickens round mine and over the weekend we welcomed in 3 more to the family.
Cool don't you think?

maybe i'm biased
But you've got to love this:
I managed to get a pair of these this time last year.
I don't think I will like a pair of shoes more, I must say! It's just something so simple, done so well.
The best things in life usually follow that formula - especially in the design world!

TOMS, the next chapter
From what started as a shoe manufacture giving one pair of shoes for every one bought, TOMS has now developed an eye wear range with the same principles.

Want anything from the shop... ...Cornetto
Designed by Barber Osgerby will light up the streets on its tour around britain before arriving at the olympic games for the opening ceremony. The 8000 holes represent the number of people that will carry the torch on its journey. I can help thinking though, do you want a flake with that?
Foam, card and resin designs were made before the prototype is produced

Brilliant digital things
Please just read this: http://www.marketingweek.co.uk/sectors/travel-and-leisure/kaiser-chiefs-ask-fans-to-create-and-promote-album/3027069.article
A fantastic, fully integrated digital campaign. I love watching strategy develop as technology does. This is a fantastic way to bridge the gap between fickle consumer spending and an arrogant music industry.
- Design your album: It's tracks, it's cover, it's retail outlet.
All hail the Kaiser Chief brand

What we look forward to in June
For me, a footall dweeb, the end of the season isn't such a bummer.
If anything, I really look forward to it - there's a flurry of new football kits for me to waste my time scouring. With this also comes new boots, new ad campaigns and generally the build up to a fresh start for all football teams.
Everything is generally far more enjoyable when the sun come out too.
Where am I going with this?
Here:
and here:
Interesting to see the angles each club is taking moving their brands forward. Both have some lovely touches.
The layering, bold features of Oldham (image 1) are powerful and smart whilst the tonal, simple imagery of Coventry (image 2) is minimal and cultured.
I'd summarise by saying Oldham have gone modern whereas Coventry have moved towards contemporary.
Both do a great job for each and I'll look out for these next season.
Hooray for the re-brand.
Enjoy the sun, up to 25 deg. ? Beautiful.
